Information we collect

Browsing TaipeiFlix does not require personal information. The app requests movie, theater, showtime, poster, and film-detail data from the TaipeiFlix backend.

When you choose a showtime or visit a cinema booking site, TaipeiFlix records an anonymous handoff event. It may include the movie, cinema, selected date and time, destination website, app platform, and the screen where the link was opened. These events help us understand whether booking links work and do not include an account, cookie, device identifier, advertising identifier, or precise location.

TaipeiFlix also records a small set of anonymous product events, such as opening a movie, viewing showtimes, sharing a listing, or starting a listing correction. These events may include the listing, selected date, result count, screen, and campaign tags included in a link (for example, UTM source, medium, and campaign). They do not include an account, cookie, device identifier, advertising identifier, or precise location.

Like most web services, the backend may process standard request metadata such as IP address, request path, timestamps, user agent, and basic rate-limit information for security, reliability, abuse prevention, debugging, and service operations.

Location

The web and native iOS apps request location only after a user explicitly chooses location-based theater sorting. Location is used on the device to calculate distances to cinemas and is not sent to the TaipeiFlix backend or included in analytics events.

Tracking and advertising

TaipeiFlix does not track users across apps or websites, does not sell personal information, and does not show targeted advertising. On the website, the anonymous page-view, ticket-handoff, and product events described above are also processed by Umami Cloud as TaipeiFlix's analytics service provider. Umami is cookieless. It processes request information, including IP address and browser information, to derive approximate location and a hashed session identifier; Umami states that it does not store the IP address. TaipeiFlix does not supply a user ID to Umami or enable session replay, heatmaps, or automatic interaction capture. The native iOS app does not embed the Umami analytics script.

Data sharing

TaipeiFlix uses external movie and poster data providers to retrieve film information. Requests to the TaipeiFlix backend may trigger server-side requests to those providers. TaipeiFlix does not attach your account details or precise location to those server-side requests. Movie posters may also load directly from third-party image hosts, which receive the IP address and standard request information needed to serve the image. Opening a trailer, map, or booking website connects you to that service, whose own privacy policy applies.

Optional boba tips

If you choose to support TaipeiFlix with a tip, you leave this site to pay through Stripe. Stripe collects the payment and contact information needed to process your tip and provide a receipt under its Privacy Policy. TaipeiFlix does not receive or store your full card details. Carter can view payment records and the contact information provided at checkout in Stripe to manage tips and answer payment questions. Tips are optional and do not change access to the app.

Storage and your choices

Recent searches are stored only on your device, with up to eight entries per browsing section. They are not sent to our backend. Clear them from the recent-search list. Shared screening links contain the public film, theater, date, time, version, runtime, and poster; they contain no account or location history. Anyone with the link can view that plan.

Saved movies, cinemas, screenings, language, and display preferences stay on your device. You can remove saved items in the app, delete the app's data, or clear website storage. Location permission can be changed in your device or browser settings.

Product events are written to hosting logs and follow the hosting plan's log-retention period. Website analytics are retained in our Umami account. If you send a support email, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include so we can reply. Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of support correspondence; anonymous events cannot reliably be tied back to you.
